About the College

Cirencester College has a reputation for innovation, outstanding student care, excellent teaching and excellent results. Our Beacon College status, an accolade of which we are justly proud, provides public recognition of this and places us amongst the best colleges in the country. The 2006 league tables placed us at the top of the tertiary and general FE colleges ranking nationally at level 3 (A level or equivalent). This year our pass rates have been even better. Our OFSTED inspectors (December 2006) rated us as "Outstanding", awarding 5 grade 1s.

Facilities & Student life

In August 2004 we opened our new Humanities and Science block which has fantastic modern facilities and is a brilliant learning environment. It includes a fitness suite, a lecture theatre, state of the art open-plan science labs as well as excellent teaching spaces equipped with the very latest technology.

We have Windows XP throughout the college.

Tastebuds, our Refectory, is open all day from 8.30 in the morning selling hot food, sandwiches, drinks and other snacks. The ‘Grab and Go’ Shop also sells food and drinks. Reprographics in the Hub offers cards, stationery, pens, art materials and equipment at competitive prices.

The new BrightEyes Early Years Centre provides childcare for babies from 3 months to pre-school. Open all year round, it meets the needs of students, working parents and those studying childcare.

The proportion of our students who stay on campus all day, and make use of study facilities, is very high. Students study either in the college Library where there are quiet study rooms or in one of the Learning Resource Centres.

We offer a range of sporting and recreational activities, instrumental lessons, foreign languages and computing opportunities. We also have a college cat called ‘Caddy’ who lives in the Davis Block, when he’s not helping out in the Hub.

Full-time students are welcome to join many of our part-time courses, short courses or evening classes free of any tuition fees. Part-time courses are listed in our separate termly course brochures.

The Sundial Theatre has established itself as a lively venue for both professional and student events, with many sell-out performances. Watch out for top touring companies and special offers for students.
