Undergraduate Degree (BA/BSc)
What is it?
An Undergraduate Degree will allow you to gain a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree. By gaining one of these Degrees you can boost your career progression, often allowing you to gain responsibility earlier on in your career. Many Degrees are subject based rather than focused on a specific profession and therefore offer a wide range of employment opportunities.
Course content:
The content of Degree courses varies depending on the focus of the Degree. Some Degrees can also be combined with other subjects such as Business or Management. Many Degree courses offer the student the opportunity to take up a paid industrial work placement which will allow you to gain valuable work experience in the industry. Degree courses are often made up of a mixture of lectures and smaller group seminars. In addition you will be expected to complete a large proportion of work outside the lecture and seminar sessions.
Duration:
Undergraduate Degrees can take anywhere from three to five years to complete, this will often include an industrial work placement (Sandwich placement). Undergraduate Degrees can also be studied on a part time basis taking around six years to complete. Distance / flexible learning may also be available at this level dependent on the course chosen.
Entry Requirements:
Undergraduate Degrees require good GCSEs along with certain A Level grades. Individual courses will have their own entry requirements and it is therefore an idea to check these on the UCAS website (www.ucas.ac.uk)
